Tiliacora triandra was once a wild plant in the mountains, now it has been planted on a large scale by Mr. Nguyen Quang Dinh (resident of Tam Anh Nam commune, Nui Thanh district) and suddenly brought economic benefits. high.
“King” leaves Tiliacora triandra
According to the introduction of many small traders selling Tiliacora triandra at the market, we came to the farm of Mr. Nguyen Quang Dinh – who is known as the “king” of Tiliacora triandra leaves in Quang Nam.
According to Mr. Dinh, dew ginseng belongs to the family of vines, formerly growing wild in the mountains. In the past, people in Quang Nam often went to find the leaves of this tree to make jelly for refreshment, but no one has brought it back to plant.
In 2013, when he went to the South to work, he accidentally learned the model of growing dew leaves. Seeing it as fancy, bringing high economic efficiency, he decided to bring the variety back to his hometown to experiment on arid hilly soil.
After learning how to take care and water for a while, he suddenly found this plant growing well, adapting to the local hot weather and especially drought tolerant.
“In the early days, I planted mainly from the experience of learning from the South, gradually creating more to be more suitable. Up to now, talking about the experience of growing Tiliacora triandra, I am very confident that I have mastered it”, Mr. Dinh said. .
According to Mr. Dinh, Tiliacora triandra has the advantage of being easy to grow and can be harvested after only a short time. That is not to mention the longer the time of planting Tiliacora triandra, the regular harvest will help the young shoots to grow faster, the leaves to be obtained more, for high yields.
Dew ginseng is a type of water-loving but should not be watered too much to avoid waterlogging. If the soil is not porous and drained, the disease has conditions to thrive, causing death.
In addition, clean the root to avoid sheltering pests, help young shoots to grow more and must grasp the time to tie the Tiliacora triandra rope on the truss, avoid planting trees with a thick density so that the leaves below the root do not lack of light. shining.
“If well cared for, it can be harvested only after 5-6 months. The larger the string, the higher the yield. The tree is easy to grow. During the growing period, the tree needs to be provided with enough water to irrigate, to make a sturdy trellis. okay,” said Mr. Dinh.
The item is not afraid of being lost
With nearly 10 years of “eating and sleeping” with the dew plant, Mr. Dinh designed an automatic watering system and covered the base with tarpaulin to limit transpiration and limit weed growth.
Ginseng mist garden is also invested, arranged very methodically and scientifically. Each root of Tiliacora triandra is planted with a solid iron pillar. The rows of Tiliacora triandra are about 0.5 meters apart, with drainage ditches to prevent waterlogging.
The characteristics of Tiliacora triandra are vines, to save space, he also designed a climbing rig with rope and raised it instead of a low pole planted at the bottom. Thanks to that, on the same area of land, he could grow many dew-straw and easy to harvest, avoiding falling.
Earn billions by planting dew and ginseng plants
Currently, Mr. Dinh’s family has invested more than 3,000 m² of land to plant dew ginseng. In the near future, he will invest in planting an additional 2,000 m² to supply reverse Tiliacora triandra leaves to customers in the South.
According to Mr. Dinh, since planting this plant (from 10 years), this item has never been sluggish. After the product is available, customers come to the garden to buy it, rather than having to take the effort to leave the termites far away.
Leaves are sold at a price of 100,000-150,000 VND/kg. In the hot months, people have a need to cool down and cool the body, so the Tiliacora triandra sometimes “burns out”.
“Qualified leaves will be harvested once every 25 days. On average 500 m2 of the garden, I get 200-300 kg of leaves. With the current area, a year I can get 20 tons of dew leaves. , the income is about 2 billion VND”, Mr. Dinh said.
Ms. Vo Thi Thu Van (53 years old), a small trader selling Tiliacora triandra at Tam Ky market said that Mr. Dinh’s Tiliacora triandra leaves are famous here, because there are no pesticides, so they are popular in the market.
“One day, I can sell a bowl of nearly 10 kg of Tiliacora triandra jelly. Tiliacora triandra leaves just need to be ground, pounded with filtered water and then frozen. This jelly has a natural green color that makes massage and cooling very good. ” said Mrs. Van.
