International tourists know Son Doong by the name of Mountain Cave (River Mountain Cave). The cave is said to have been formed by the Rao Thuong River eroding into the foothills of the Truong Son limestone mountains. After the merging of mountains and rivers, a large tunnel was formed beneath the cliffs.

When coming to the cave, the travel experts of The Travel said that visitors will be mesmerized by the trees, the mushroom-like forest in the cave, and the stalactites, tall stalagmites, sinkholes and cave pearls. You have to spend at least two days walking through the forest, crossing the river. The price of a tour to discover Son Doong in four days is 3,000 USD and must be approved by the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park Management Board. Oxalis Adventure offers this tour.

9 other caves mentioned in the list include Vatnajokull Ice Cave (Iceland), Crystal Cave (Mexico), Krubera Cave (Georgia), Firefly Cave (New Zealand), Batu Cave (Malaysia), Chilean Marble Cave , Tham Lod cave (Thailand), Reed Flute cave (China) and Škocjan cave (Slovenia).
