In the days after the Lunar New Year, every day, the historical and cultural relic site of Phu Na, Xuan Du commune, Nhu Thanh district welcomes thousands of tourists to offer incense, pray for luck and peace in the new year.

Phu Na is located about 30 km from Thanh Hoa City, this place is considered a sacred land, worshiping Ba Trieu, Princess Lieu Hanh and Mother Thuong Ngan. At the area of ​​Co Chin temple at the end of the relic, there are always a lot of people crowded waiting for their turn to burn incense and offer offerings.

Next to the moss-covered ancient temple, there is a clear stream of water flowing out from a small rock alley that never runs dry all year round. This is a rocky gorge in the Nua mountain range consisting of many mountains, 300-500 m high, lying across the three districts of Trieu Son, Nong Cong and Nhu Thanh (Thanh Hoa).

On the 9th day of the Lunar New Year every year is the festival “Opening Heaven’s Gate” at Nua Mountain. The water source here is considered “holy water”, so after sightseeing, they often come to take some to bring back to pray for good luck and happiness in the new year.

Phu Na, also known as Na Son Dong Phu, is located at the foot of the Nua mountain range, where this is a sacred land associated with the name of Ba Trieu – who raised an army to rebel against the invaders of Dong Ngo (in 248).

Phu Na was formed in the early 20th century, built according to the architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty. This place was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in 1993.

This year, the Phu Na Relic Management Board decorated many miniatures for the Spring Festival or hung colorful lanterns and hats along the routes to attract visitors and check in.

A middle-aged woman holding a small bitter leaf plant (crow’s feet or five papaya) invites customers to buy and plant. In addition to the sight of praying for peace, visitors to Phu Na can also buy many kinds of plants and animals such as tea trees, bitter leaves, and young peaches.

They can also enjoy local dishes such as kudzu, dong dong, tuber, white dong that are boiled and sold by local people.

The festival season in Phu Na lasts until the end of the first lunar month every year.
